Portable Swimming Pool: Liquid Fun Even On The Run
Friday, March 9th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedA portable swimming pool may be just the answer if you haven’t yet committed to installing a pool permanently; or you’re traveling with family to a vacation house or area where access to a pool is scarce. Perhaps you’re having a party where you want the added fun and convenience of a pool. No matter where you go, or even the time of year, a portable swimming pool allows you to enjoy the water anywhere. They’re simple to set up (some come with instructions on DVD!), and taking them down is fast and easy.
Many portable swimming pools are soft side constructs with either metal or PVC braces with stakes to hold them temporarily yet securely into the ground. Many come with optional accessories such as ladders, slides, and sun canopies. Some larger models even have optional skimmers and filtering systems.
Just Add Water!
You can of course purchase a portable swimming pool, or they may be available for rent in your area on a short term basis if you just need it for a party or one-time event. They come in a variety of sizes, from infant and tot waders, to a 63-inch by 93-inch pool, 24 inches deep; up to a 24-foot diameter round pool, 52-inches deep. While many are soft-sided there are a few portable swimming pool models with metal sides that utilize a liner. You can even get a rectangular soft side pool 18-foot by 30-feet that is 52-inches deep with a powder-treated steel frame for under $3,000, not including water and other options. You can put it in your yard during the swimming season, then take it down for storage during the winter months. Depending on the size of your pool, filling with water can be done by your hose, or for very large models generally obtained by contacting a water hauling company experienced in filling pools.
A portable swimming pool generally is not designed to be left standing after the swim season and into winter. The inflatable pools especially will suffer damage at temperatures below 40 degrees. Again, they are ideal as a less-expensive alternative to having an in-ground or permanent swimming pool installation. With routine maintenance and proper handling a portable swimming pool can withstand years of use without losing your investment. Just pack it up and take it with you; or set it up in your yard to open the summer season. You’ll always be in the swim!
